When 6ari'3 Ibn Zayid conquered Spain after a long tiresome fight, people flocked to the streets, screaming and shouting with glee "The Victor (il '3alib!), The Victor (il '3alib)". After fighting like a lion in battle, one would think 6ari'3 Ibn Zayid would bask in the adulations and flattery after all to the victor belongs the spoils. But he shied away and said very firmly "There is no Victor but God! (La '3alib ila Allah)". This became his motto and he and his descendants decorated the entire Al-Hambra palace with that saying. The last Muslim leader decorated the walls with his name and claimed he was the victor. Soon after that Muslim rule in Spain fell. It goes to show you...Tawajado li Allah tajidooh itjaahkum, ta5lew 3an Allah yita5allah 3ankoom. I've always been enthralled by Islamic history, art, architecture and calligraphy and i thought that story was very signifcant. Thanks for having a look at it and please tell me what you think

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
